Woodwork Technician

2025 - Present
Can you tell us a little about your role at Loyola College?

I commenced at Loyola College in February 2025 in the role of Woodwork Technician which involves classroom preparation and setup, assisting Teachers with their daily Design & Technology classes, ordering materials and consumables for student project use and ensuring that our classroom machinery and equipment is maintained regularly.

What does a normal day at Loyola College look like in your role?

My day is spent working with (and sometimes wrangling with!) both our Design & Technology Staff and Students about their planned projects, what they would like to achieve and what is feasible to help their projects come to life.

Each day commences at 7.30am long before most Teachers and Students arrive to the school. This gives me the opportunity to operate the Woodwork machinery in my Workshop and prepare and cut timber ready for the days Wood classes. I spend three to four periods each day in class supporting our students and our teachers, assisting with various wood projects.

When not in the classroom I can be found in my office ordering materials and supplies that are required to keep the Design & Technology Team functioning.

What do you enjoy most about your work at Loyola College?

Being part of a team that acknowledges the 40+ years of building experience that I bring to the school in helping our students produce quality and innovative products.

What is something people may not know about you that you would like to share?

My idea of the perfect holiday involves hooking up the caravan and heading toward our next unique destination!
