Learning Support Officer
2026 - Present
Can you tell us a little about your role at Loyola College?

I started working at Loyola College at the start of this year (2026) as a Learning Support Officer (LSO).

As an LSO I have the opportunity to work closely with students who sometimes need a little extra support in the classroom. I help students stay engaged with their learning, build their confidence and overcome any challenges they may face at school. I work closely with the rest of the Student Services Team, the First-Aid Officers, Counsellors and Learning Diversity Teachers.

What does a normal day at Loyola College look like in your role?

Each day is different for me. When I arrive at work, I begin by checking my timetable to see which classes and year levels I will be supporting that day. I may be working with Year 7, Year 9, or Year 10 students across a range of subjects. Throughout the day, I work alongside teachers to support students in their learning, whether that is assisting individuals, working with small groups, helping students stay on task, or adapting support to meet individual needs.

What do you enjoy most about your work at Loyola College?

I love being able to make positive connections with both teachers and students. I love being able to support students in their learning journey and make a difference in their everyday lives. It is very rewarding to see students grow in confidence and achieve goals, they normally thought wouldn't be possible.

I also enjoy working together with teachers and different departments across the school. Even though we all have different roles, we all share the same goal of supporting students and helping them reach their full potential.

If you could choose any one dinner guests (outside of immediate family) who would they be and why?

I would have Jo Weston. As a netball and Vixen fan, I love watching her on the court. I think she would be very inspiring and interesting to learn not only netball skills from her but also life skills.

What is something people may not know about you that you would like to share?

I didn't grow up in Melbourne. I grew up in town in Gippsland called Sale. I only moved to Melbourne at the start of the year.
