Student Voice

This year has been another memorable one for MacKillop House. Time and time again we’ve proven to be a House filled with resilience, teamwork, and pride. Right from the very first week, our enthusiasm shone through as students eagerly flocked to the library to record their reading for the Summer Reading Challenge.

What has stood out the most this year is the spirit of participation across all year levels. From Year 7 students stepping up to fill events in their first ever carnival, to our Year 12s throwing themselves wholeheartedly into their final carnivals. MacKillop House has shown that success isn’t just about results – it’s about effort, energy, and commitment.

One of the biggest highlights of the year was our performance of Peter Pan in the House Eisteddfod. The production captured the imagination of the audience and showed the depth of talent within our House. With students from every year level contributing, and Friday nights filled with energy and laughter, Peter Pan will be remembered as one of our favourite performances.

A special thank you goes to Hannah Wood (12/KLPO), Stephanie Marino (12/KPVC) and the rest of our MacKillop team for all of your effort. Your creativity and hard work ensured the show was something truly special, and our House will greatly miss your leadership in future years.

Our fundraising for MacKillop Family Services has also been a point of pride. Through the Walk for Others campaign, our has House raised over $8000, a remarkable effort. The generosity and determination behind these efforts will make a real difference to mothers and children facing difficult times.

We are incredibly proud of the way every student in MacKillop has given their time, effort, and energy this year. Whether stepping outside their comfort zone, filling in for a peer, or trying something new, your contributions have shaped the spirit of our House.

On behalf of everyone, we would also like to recognise Mr Pearce in his first year as Acting Head of House. Your constant support, encouragement, and organisation have guided us through 2025 and lifted our House to new heights. Your leadership has been inspiring and has encouraged us all to push ourselves and embrace the MacKillop values.

Finally, we want to thank the House Committee, our Mentors, and all the students who have worked behind the scenes. Your efforts have strengthened our House spirit and kept MacKillop known as a place of pride and unity.

To our fellow Year 12s, the countdown is on! We wish you all the very best for the weeks ahead and for the exciting paths you’ll take beyond high school.

Student of the Fortnight: Matthew Toma (7/KEPO)

We would like to name our student of the fortnight as Matthew Toma in year 7. Over the course of the year, Matthew has stepped up to help at any chance available, whether it be House eisteddfod or a House assembly, Matthew is always enthusiastically willing to give a helping hand.

Your dedication and enthusiasm are remarkable, and we are all looking forward to seeing you continue to strive for success!
