On Monday, 26 May we took over 100 students – our biggest team ever – to compete in the ACS Athletics Championships, and what a day it turned out to be!
Our students delivered incredible performances throughout the day, demonstrating talent, teamwork, and tenacity. Some of the standout achievements included:
- Jobe Douglas (11/CAMA) breaking the Year 11 boys’ hurdles record – an outstanding feat!
- Jobe, along with Alfie Rowley (7/FSJH) and Franklin McDonnell (7/MJMM), finishing among the top 20 male individual scorers.
- A fantastic 22 1st place finishes, 9 2nd places, and 21 3rd places.
- Year 7 Boys finished 1st overall and proudly brought home the Year 7 Boys Championship Pennant - our first Pennant of any type since 2017!
- Year 11 Boys secured a strong 3rd place.
- Both Year 12 Boys and Girls placed 4th, just 16 points off a combined podium finish.
Overall, we finished 6th, with a total of over 2000 points – a massive 400-point increase from last year. This result puts us right on the heels of the top schools and shows the exciting progress in athletics at Loyola.
These results were a true testament to our students' commitment and preparation, including a number of early morning training sessions at Willinda Park in the lead-up to the event. Their hard work, resilience, and team spirit were on full display and made the school proud.
A huge thank you to all the coaches, teachers, and staff who supported the athletes and made this day such a success. Your guidance and dedication continue to inspire excellence in our sporting community.
